interstellar iris
in conversations
with the void
lately
it’s come
to light that
i’m not
upholding
my end
of the bargain
you see
because once
you’ve walked
through
the eye of
the nebula
you’re not
supposed to
come back
this could be
because you’re
obligated to
dissolve into
your shock
and awe
or simply
that the void
never had
a contingency plan
yes it’s fun
to ride an orb
through caves
covered in
celestial crustaceans
and match the pink
of your inner lining
to that of the nearest star
but at a certain point
you must take stock
and realize that
contrary to every contract
ever made with the void
your return to earth
is inevitable
because even
the wide eyed wonderments
of the universe
are no match for
the fundamental truth
that life is worth is living
bodhisattva
i sprang
from
a lotus
having spent
many
a kalpa
floating
around
the ether
and
zig zagging
my way
through
stars and plasma
constantly
shedding
myself
of myself
so when
i found
the opening
between petals
i succumbed
to incarnate
