[episodes in my life as tree]
i.
soak my pupils into the feathers of your neighbor’s chickens hold my balance
i.
rise on splayed toes over the rubber mat toward the gate that swings hums with gaps tells
me there’s orange in my future
i.
am a tree for 5 minutes without faltering under the sun that melts through fence gaps &
corn smells
i.
air grievances out pull hands together in prayer tuck over fall into chair
V.
you’re inside playing your bass &
i’m playing games now
i.
am a tree again with what is left the chickens have gone in to roost
